Spain is regional. For much of its history Spain was a collection of kingdoms, and even the language we call Spanish is not used universally - just wander around Barcelona or the Basque country. At Goodspeed, we’ll focus on the specialty of the region. In Madrid, let the director of the Reina Sofia museum introduce you to his world-class collection. In Basque country, private vintners will show you the stages of their creations from the clay soil to the oak barrels to the tasting cellar. In Barcelona, go back-stage with world-class musicians. In Andalusia, masters of the Spanish Riding School take us to the private stables of the Lipizzan. In Spain, nothing need be out of reach…

Once capital of one of the largest empires in the world, Portugal packs a great variety for its size. At Goodspeed, we can visit with our friend the Duque of Albuquerque on the Douro River in the afternoon and then share the evening with professors from Coimbra University for an evening of Fado music. Savor the bounty of the port wine vineyards, ride the streetcars of laid-back Lisbon and dig into the World Heritage city of Evora. At windswept Cape Saint Vincent in Sagres, look out toward the New World and try to imagine the fears of the great navigators.
