Day 1: Ferry to Tangiers/Fez
Transfer to the port city of Algeciras, where you will board the ferry to Morocco. After the sea crossing, arrive in Tangiers and meet your bi-lingual tour Escort. Located on the Strait of Gibraltar where Africa meets Europe, Tangier has long held strategic importance. Ruled through the centuries by waves of conquerors including Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, Arabs and Portuguese, the city is more than two and a half millennia old, making it one of North Africa’s most ancient. Day 2: Fez/Meknes
This morning enjoy a tour of Fez, most ancient of the Imperial Cities of Morocco, with visits to the Royal Palace, Christian and Jewish Quarter and The Medina (Old City), declared by UNESCO Patrimony of the Humanity. In the afternoon depart for Meknes, one of Morocco’s most striking imperial cities with palaces, mosques, gardens, lakes, granaries, surrounded by a massive rampart wall. Overnight Fez
Day 3: Beni Mellal/Marrakech
After breakfast travel via Immouzer Kandar and Azrou, the Berber villages well-known for their hand-craft cooperative. Continue on to Beni Mellal for a lunch stop (paid individually) The town lies at the foot of the Middle Atlas, on the edge of the Great Tadla Plain, where cereals are extensively cultivated. Inhabited by Berbers and Jews before the arrival of Islam, it was known successively as Day, Kasbah Belkouche and now, Beni Mellal. The surrounding area has many waterfalls, springs, caves and wooded gorges populated by monkeys; Continue to Marrakech, a symbol of the Morocco that once was, and which still survives here. Day 4: Ouarzazate
After breakfast enjoy an excursion to Ouarzazate. Its name comes from a Berber phrase meaning “without noise” or “without confusion” and called the door of the desert. Movies such as ‘Lawrence of Arabia’, ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’, ‘Gladiator’ or ‘Mummy’, were filmed here. Aït Benhaddou, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, is one of the most beautiful villages in Morocco. Be prepared to do some walking, climbing and some jumping as you explore this village. Afterward continue your travels to the home of one the largest film studios in the world and the locale for movies such as ‘Gladiator’, ‘Kingdom of Heaven’ and ‘Babel’. See the meeting point of the Atlas, Draa and Dades valleys and explore the many historical Kasbahs, a fortress and place for the local leader to live and as a defense when the city was under attack. A kasbah has high walls which usually have no windows. During the day a camel ride will be arranged. Return to Marrakech and our hotel with free time to freshen-up for our included Belly Dancing Show and dinner at a local restaurant, with a skilled Henna tattoo artist. Day 5: Marrakech/Casablanca
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a tour of the Koutoubia Mosque, the Palace of Bahia and Ben Youssef Mosque and Medersa, as well as a walk through the many colorful ‘souks’ (markets). Afterward depart for Casablanca. Upon arrival enjoy an orientation tour with some free time to explore before your festival farewell dinner at your hotel. Overnight Casablanca
